Certified NDGAA since 2002.
"I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in ceramic art from Alfred University. I earned my Master of Fine Arts degree in ceramics from Southern Illinois University. I received a teaching certificate for grades K-12 from Daemen College in Buffalo, NY. With all this education under my belt, I ended up in sales for a number of years, selling everything ranging from life insurance to new home construction to phone systems to Hallmark cards.
"The events of 9/11/2001 changed my life in ways I never could have imagined, as my employer had a forced reduction of management staff that included me. I was lucky because it made me re-evaluate what I wanted to be when I grew up.
"I decided to become a dog groomer.
"I trained with an area groomer and within 3 months I had taken the practical and written exams to be certified by The National Dog Groomers Association of America (NDGAA).
"I set up a grooming studio in my basement and groomed dogs evenings and on weekends, while working as a real estate appraiser during the day.
"Eleven years ago, I opened my first shop on Erie Boulevard in Syracuse, NY and within two years moved to my present location."
